Privacy policy

Last updated: 20 April 2026

My Shop Window™ is a trading name operating in the United Kingdom. This policy explains what personal data we collect through myshopwindow.co.uk, why we hold it and what you can ask us to do with it. We are the data controller for that information.

What we collect

  • Enquiry details. Your name, business name, email address and — if you choose to give them — phone number, social handle, website link and whatever you write in the message box.
  • Account details. If you create an account, your email address and the sign-in information handled by our authentication provider. We never see or store your password.
  • Shop Window content. The words, images and links you supply for your window. Once your window is published, that content is deliberately public.
  • Technical data. Standard server and security logs generated when pages are requested.

Why we hold it

Enquiry details are used to reply to you and to discuss the package you're interested in — our lawful basis is your consent, given by ticking the box on the form, and our legitimate interest in responding to people who contact us. Account and window content are processed to perform the service you've asked for. Technical logs are kept for security and reliability.

What we don't do

We do not sell your data, we do not share it with advertisers, and we do not add you to marketing lists off the back of an enquiry. We do not collect or store card or payment details anywhere on this website.

Who processes it

Our website hosting and database provider stores the information on our behalf under a data processing agreement. Access to enquiry records is restricted to administrator accounts. Data may be processed on servers inside and outside the UK under appropriate safeguards.

How long we keep it

Enquiries that do not become customers are deleted within 24 months. Customer records and published window content are kept for as long as the Shop Window is live, and for up to six years afterwards where we need them for accounting purposes.

Cookies

We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies. Essential storage is used only to keep you signed in to your account. If that changes we will say so here first.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of the data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, object to how we use it, or withdraw consent at any time. Ask through the contact form and we'll respond within one month. If you're unhappy with our response you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Changes

If this policy changes we'll update the date at the top of this page. Material changes affecting existing customers will be sent by email.
